Please join us on Wednesday, January 17th for our next meeting.  We will have food and drinks provided by Vectren.  This month we are going to have a group discussion about developer tools, we all have tools in our toolbox so we’re going to discuss some of those.  Everyone can participate in this meeting, bring some information and names of the tools that you use and share them with the rest of us.

We’ll have another design pattern session where we’ll get an overview of the Strategy pattern.  We will also go over some of the new changes in Visual SourceSafe 2005. This meeting will primarily be a question and answer group discussion session.  So make sure and bring a question!

Be sure to attend, we'll be giving away Microsoft Office 2003 Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Professional!  We will also have a couple random drawings to give away some additional stuff!  This merchandise has been donated to our group by Microsoft and Culminis.

We hope to see you all on Wednesday!  Come...get some food, get some knowledge, and get some free stuff! 

Remember this meeting is going to be conducted by all of us so be sure to bring some information about some utility tools that you use and bring a question so that we can have some good discussion.

Presenter: Group Discussion

We had 20 people attend this month's meeting.  This month we had more of a discussion based meeting were we talked about design patterns, utilities and tools.  Thanks to everyone for participating and making our two hours fly by!  Anyone interested in presenting a future topic please contact me and we can make the arrangements.

I'd also like to thank Vectren for supplying our group with pizza and drinks for this meeting.  I know everyone really enjoyed it.   As always, if your company would be interested in supplying the group with food for one of our monthly meetings contact me.

We had a 10 minute presentation/review of the Strategy design pattern.  I'd like to thank Toby Kraft for presenting it to us.  He gave us a brief overview of design patterns and their purpose, he also talked about refactoring.  His book of reference was Head First Design Patterns.  Hopefully this introduction to the pattern sparks your interest to learn more on your own.

We spoke and showed several utilities and tools that we use that are helpful to us.  Check the website, Resources section for all of the cool tools that we talked about.  The presentation materials have been uploaded to our website and are available for download.  Visit the Resources section of our site to download the strategy pattern presentation.

Our next meeting is February 13th for our Windows Vista community launch.  This will be one you don’t want to miss!
