Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a
Senior Engineer / Developer
opening within our
Engineering & Technology
Organization.
Day to Day (what a typical day or week look like in this role)
The developer will provide technical computer expertise for application support, development, acquisition, and integration of computer hardware and software systems required by the corporate Engineering and Technology organizations. This position will offer a strong opportunity to have a direct impact on Whirlpool's engineering information computing environment by implementing strategies for engineering systems and applications. They will plan, analyze, design, construct, and implement custom engineering information systems to provide a linkage between core business systems using the Intranet as an end user interface. This person will troubleshoot, analyze, and conceive solutions for the structured data (classification) process while developing and maintaining programs that work with global engineering databases.
What You Will Do:
Participate in cross-functional design teams to identify engineering process improvements
Analyze, develop, document, and execute project plans for engineering information systems
Perform development and system integration activities
Coordinate projects and activities with I.T. resources
Identify, analyze, and solve problems
Qualifications
What You Need To Succeed:
A BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
Good planning, organization, and communication skills
Be able to understand and perform theoretical and practical software analysis
Ability to understand and implement software concepts in support of engineering processes
Experience developing applications for varied computing environments including Internet/Intranet, MS Windows computers, and MS Windows servers
Knowledge and expertise with C#, .NET, ADO.NET, and SQL (Oracle strongly preferred) is required. Knowledge and expertise with ASP.NET, web services, HTML, and Internet development tools are desired
Proficiency in MS Office
Outstanding people skills, with the specific ability to interact as a team member
Dynamic self-starter with admirable management skills
Strong decision making skills
In-depth computer skills related to specific needs of position
Ability to travel and meet with other Whirlpool or supplier operations
